Hawaii Pre-Travel Testing: Before Your Arrival
Please visit Hawaii’s COVID-19 page for a full list of CLIA approved testing partners and the latest state updates.
As of January 19, Maui County will require all arriving passengers to have uploaded the AlohaSafe COVID-19 exposure app or other Google-Apple exposure notification (GAEN) system to their mobile phones. Failure to do so will result in mandatory 10-day quarantine. For information about AlohaSafe and links to download, go to https://www.alohasafealert.org/.
The new rule applies to both arriving transpacific as well as inter-county passengers and is in addition to existing statewide Safe Travels Program requirements.
As of December 17, 2020, a 10-day mandatory quarantine will be required for travelers arriving WITHOUT a confirmed negative COVID-19 test taken within the 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip to Hawai‘i. Travelers will not be able to obtain a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) upon arrival at any Hawaiʻi airport. Grand Wailea is not available to accept mandatory 10-day quarantine guests at this time.
As of October 15, 2020, visitors age 5 and older will be allowed to bypass Hawaii’s mandated 14-day quarantine with proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Tests must be from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified laboratory and taken within 72 hours of the visitor’s last leg of their trip.
Under Hawaii’s Safe Travel Program, a Safe Travel registration and application is required by the state. A negative test must be uploaded to your account no more than 72 hours before your arrival on island. Once approved, the Safe Travel program will email you a QR code to be utilized at the airport and resorts. Grand Wailea will validate your Safe Travel approval status using the Safe Travels QR code and associated valid picture ID for all travelers required to undergo pre-travel testing.
Travelers without a validated Safe Travel approval will be required to quarantine for 10 days. At this time, Grand Wailea is only hosting guests who are able to bypass the quarantine period. Per Hawaii guidelines, keiki (children) under five are not required to take a covid-19 test and are not subject to quarantine without the test.
A face covering that covers both mouth and nose is recommended at all times. Before your travels, please see the Hawaii State, Maui County, and Hilton Worldwide guidelines for the most up to date guidance regarding masks.
Social distancing of at least six feet is in effect in all areas. To limit direct contact, keyless entry is offered on every room.
