Frequently Asked Questions
|
What is our first step?
The Grand Wailea Resort can book Maui wedding ceremonies seven days a week. We offer ceremonies on the beach and in the Chapel. After deciding on a time frame, contact the Grand Wailea Weddings Department to check on the availability of dates. We require a 50% nonrefundable deposit to secure the date and time. Once the date and time have been established for your Hawaiian wedding, we will send you a contract outlining the wedding services selected. The contract must be signed and returned to confirm the booking along with a required 50% deposit payment.
|
How far in advance do we need to book?
Most Hawaiian weddings book six months in advance of the ceremony. The sooner we are contacted, the better we can accommodate your request. As soon as you know the date and time, the more chance you will have to secure the date and time you want for your Maui wedding ceremony. Because wedding ceremonies can be booked seven days a week, we encourage you to book as soon as possible. However, should you decide last minute, please feel free to call us about availability.
|
Do we need to make our room reservations?
Due to the popularity of the Resort, couples are advised to make room reservations before confirming the date of their wedding.
|
How do we contact the Weddings Department?
In order to better serve you, we ask that you fill out the Request for Information. When it is completed click, ‘Submit’. Upon receipt of your complete form, a Wedding Planner will contact you.
Otherwise, you can download our Wedding Checklist, print it, complete it and fax to 808-874-2412. Upon receipt of your completed form, a Wedding Planner will contact you.
|
What does the Wedding Planner do?
Your Wedding Planner will take you through every step of the wedding planning process. Working closely with you, the Planner will be your contact for the wedding ceremony and reception arrangements. Together you will determine what type of flowers, music, photographer, videographer and clergy member you would like for your ceremony. You can relax while your Planner handles all hiring, ordering and confirmations.

How do we obtain a Marriage License?
The marriage license must be obtained from the state in which you get married; therefore the marriage license must be applied for in Hawaii. There is a marriage license agent approximately 15 minutes from the resort on Maui. The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am. The fee for a marriage license is $65, cash only.
Following are the requirements: • The couple must appear together • Both people must present a current photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport.
Appointments should be made for the day after you arrive on the island. Your Wedding Planner will gladly schedule your appointment, or you may arrange the appointment yourself by calling (808) 875-8459. (Don’t forget to bring your marriage license to the ceremony!)

Do we need to bring our own wedding attire?
It is recommended that the bridal couple make arrangements to bring their own wedding gown and tuxedo or have it sent to the resort in advance. For an additional cost, the resort's professional Valet Laundry staff can assist with any steaming or pressing. Please request the service at least 24 hours prior to the ceremony.
In addition, there are shops on Maui that do carry wedding gowns, formal gowns and informal gowns that can be used as bridal attire.
|
What is your payment schedule?
What is your payment schedule? In order to confirm a date and time, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total package price, along with your signed confirmation letter, is required at the time of booking your Hawaiian wedding. The complete remaining balance is due 30 days before the wedding. All major credit cards are accepted for payment. For travel professionals, we do not offer discounts or commissions for any wedding services.
|
Do we get a discount on rooms?
The Grand Wailea Resort offers a 20% discount off of the published room rate for the bride and groom only based upon availability (the discount does not apply during 12/20 through 1/1). In order to receive this special discount, call Room Reservations directly at (800) 888-6100. Please inquire and make the reservations at the regular published rate. The Room Reservations department will require a two-night deposit.
Ask your wedding planner about our EReservations option that allows you to create a personalized reservations website for all of your guests to use.
