Our company has an annual Employee Incentive Contest and the winners earn a paid 4 night vacation for 2 to Maui. We always select Grand Wailea as our CEO wants the winners to stay at the BEST. We decided to not use our outside event planning company this year and I was selected to be on the “event team” along with two of my co-workers. Our group totaled 100 including General Managers, District Managers, Vice-Presidents, Executive Vice-Presidents, and our CEO. The pressure was on the event team to make sure the group didn’t notice that we weren’t using a professional event company as in the past.
Daniel Berends took such great care of us, from start to finish. He walked us through everything pre-event and during the event. He was there for us the whole time. He listened to our concerns and when the day came for our group to arrive I was relaxed knowing he was there. We had a few last minute requests and changes and Daniel handled them flawlessly. He was our point of contact for any issue that arose. He made us feel like we were his only group during our stay. I have had 15 years experience of event planning within our organization and have had some pretty bad experiences with staff promising but not delivering. This wasn’t the case with any of the staff at Grand Wailea.
Kathleen Niewiarowski in the Grande Spa was also very helpful with our group. We made over 50 appointments, some with last minute changes and she never skipped a beat. Even during our stay when some of our VIPs wanted treatments, all I had to do was e-mail her and she was extremely accommodating. She also did a great job of keeping me in the loop with any issues that arose.
Delia Gutierrez met with me before, during and after the event to make sure that we had everything we needed. I was so pleased with all of her attentiveness and did make the comment that even though we were a small group we felt like we were getting the same attention as a large group.
Shayna Jaygo did an amazing job of keeping up with our ever changing room block. She helped me at every turn and twist, even on the day of our group arrivals! We had a glitch and she effortlessly took care of it without keeping my VIP waiting.
My supervisor was so pleased with the event, he told me on the last day to start working on the contract for next year. His wife said she had never enjoyed any of the events and wanted me to know that this time she relaxed and actually enjoyed everything.
Thank you again for helping myself and the rest of our event team look so good! We all received a standing ovation from our group on our last night together. They said the event was better than before. And all of this is due to the wonderful staff at Grand Wailea.

Events of this magnitude require so much fine detail planning and organization; the Grand Wailea makes putting together our Dream Getaway in Maui truly a dream come true.
I really felt Gary went above and beyond to make sure our event ran smoothly. He even went as far as helping me greet guests with leis upon arrival. His guidance and thoughtfulness throughout the planning and execution of my event really exceeded my expectations and I am so thankful that he was assigned to our group.

During our week at your resort, Kelly and her team were always available and ready to help us navigate our way through the program. The service at Grand Wailea is like no other. Every department….sales, convention services, housekeeping, bell desk, front desk, catering/banquets, to name a few, are exceptional. Whatever your needs might be, the staff is there to make it happen. They are all very attentive to the needs of the client as well as the planner.
